Gazprom to Export Five Tankers of Liquefied Gas to USA in 2006

September 12, 2005

Gazprom (Russia), natural gas company, plans to export five tankers of liquefied gas to the USA in 2006. Until 2009 the company will supply gas to the USA within short-term contracts. On 2 Sep 2005 it exported 60,000 tonnes of liquefied gas to the USA. For the time being, Gazprom does not have its own liquefying capacities. By 2010 it expects to start regular supplies from its own resources. It is expected that North America will need 84 mil tonnes of gas in 2010 and Gazprom is hoping to win 7% of the market. It plans to build new plants in the USA and Canada to convert liquefied gas back to the normal state.
