Sep. 13--TOKYO -- Asahi Breweries Ltd. said Tuesday it will introduce a beer in eastern Japan for this winter whose taste changes over time.
The Asahi Super Yeast Draft Beer contains yeast that continues to ferment to change the smell and taste of the beer as time passes, the brewer said.
The fermentation is set to continue for two to three months after yeast is put into the beer just before shipment. Optimum fermentation is expected at temperatures of between 10 and 20 C.
Asahi Breweries said it will launch the beer in Hokkaido and six northeast Japan prefectures on Nov. 30 and in other parts of eastern Japan on Dec. 7. A 334-milliliter bottle will sell for 210 to 220 yen.
