Achieving water quality levels in all of Scotland's waterbodies that are at least minimally acceptable under the European Union's Water Framework Directive is a major long-term objective for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, according to its recently released Corporate Plan for 2005-2008. This means that all Scottish waterbodies must reach a condition roughly the same as "would be expected in undisturbed conditions," the plan says.
The plan, which includes goals and strategies to protect and improve all aspects of Scotland's environment, is accessible on the Web at www.sepa. org.uk/publications/corporateplan. Copyright Water Environment Federation Sep 2005
