PENANG, Tues. - Science, Technology and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Law Hieng Ding will give away the Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF) prizes to 27 recipients at the 10th anniversary-cum-prize presentation ceremony next week.

A total of RM315,000 will be presented to two Malaysian scientists, seven researchers and 18 science educators from all over the country.

MTSF secretary Datuk O.K. Lee said Law would be the guest-of-honour at the ceremony to be held at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 9.

The MTSF is a charitable science foundation set up by Toray Industries Inc, Japan, in 1993 with a RM4 million initial endowment to promote science and technology in Malaysia.

The three programmes undertaken by the foundation include the Science and Technology Award, Science and Technology Research Grant and Science Education Award.

Lee said MTSF has also invited Japanese scientist Dr Kazuo Moriwaki of Riken Tsukuba Institute in Japan, to deliver a lecture.

Admission is free.
