ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 3, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- XsunX, Inc. (OTCBB:XSNX), developer of Power Glass(tm) -- an innovative solar technology that allows glass windows to produce electricity from the power of the sun, announced today that continued product development success has produced large area integrated solar cell modules on transparent polyester films. This represents a milestone for the Company in efforts under its Phase III development program to perfect a scalable manufacturing method for large area solar cells on inexpensive Polyethylenenapthalate, or PEN based thin film plastics.
In Phase III, the Company has been working to refine, enhance, and develop additional aspects of its solar cell design and manufacturing process. Under the guidance of Dr. Arun Madan, Chairman of the XsunX Scientific Advisory Board, the Company's Phase III development program has continued to produce results ahead of schedule and under budget.
"Adding to the importance of the development of large area cells on thin films, the Company can now begin providing qualified manufacturers with large area working samples of its Power Glass(tm) films for product integration and development efforts," stated Tom Djokovich, XsunX's CEO. "Working with manufacturers and product integrators is an important part to establishing commercial viability for our technology as we hope to incorporate their feedback into the design of our manufacturing process," concluded Mr. Djokovich.
The core design of the Company's manufacturing process is based on a patented multi-chamber cluster tool approach using cassettes to control or handle rolls of thin plastic films. The rolls of material (transparent plastic films) are loaded into the cassettes and robotically moved between chambers or stations. Layers of transparent semiconductor and conducting materials are deposited onto the plastics in a manner which prevents cross contamination between chambers to achieve high performance, semi-transparent, large area solar cell devices.
About XsunX
Based in Aliso Viejo, California, XsunX is the developer of Power Glass -- an innovative Building Integrated Photovoltaic solar technology that allows glass windows to produce electricity from the power of the sun. This proprietary process is intended to allow manufacturers to apply a transparent and photovoltaic glazing to glass and other transparent substrates. When XsunX glazing is exposed to light, the light energy is converted into electrical energy for use as a power source. XsunX believes that its solar electric glazing technology has a number of major market opportunities in the worldwide architectural glass, optical film and plastics markets.
