Additionally, the CSS-3 supports time management efficiency requiring less than 1 hour collecting automatic suspended solids for lab analysis instead of the typical 6 hours for collection with the use of cartridges.

Suspended solids refer to small solid particles that resist settling and remain suspended in water and other liquids. The suspended solids typically remain suspended due to the motion of water or as a colloid. The capability to automatically concentrate suspended solids that initially contained very-low concentration of microorganisms or other objects is imperative for lab analysis. To have the ability to obtain automatic suspended solids and reduce the amount of time from 6 hours to 1 is paramount to productivity.

The NSG suspended solids concentrator is specifically designed for concentrating suspended solids from large water volumes of 10s, 100s and 1,000s of gallons. The concentrated suspended solids are easily ejected from the CSS-3 instrument to a bottle. It is an automatic process that is simply transferred into portable 1 liter or 1 quartz bottle for further analysis in a laboratory. This process makes it simple and easy for researchers and scientists to analyze the samples in a lab.

The CSS-3 not only concentrates suspended solids but it also keeps the concentrated suspend solids in suspension. This unique attribute allows the removal of the concentrated suspended solids without grease forming or sediment.

Additionally, the concentrated suspended solids remain completely unaltered including all biological, physical and chemical properties. The CSS-3âs highly efficient method preserves all properties even with high volumes of water. When a sample is entirely unaltered a more precise suspend solid is attained thus increasing productivity tenfold or more.

Even more remarkable is the water that the suspend solids are concentrated from can have a wide range of turbidity with significant successful solutions for analysis. The turbidity can be as low as 0.0001 NTU and amazingly as high as 50+ NTU. Turbidity is the muddiness that is produced by individual particles or stirring up sediment. An example for gauging nephelometric turbidity units (NTUâs) would be the current government standards for drinking water which cannot exceed 5 NTU with the majority of drinking water utilities levels at 0.1 NTU.

Not only is the CSS-3 capable of concentrating suspended solids from large water volumes with extraordinary ease and accuracy but it is very economical. The CSS-3 has an energy efficient rate that uses less than 100 watts of power to process more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute. This makes it possible to produce more than 145 gallons of water per hour for less than 100 watts.

As well, the CSS-3 does not use traditional filter methods but automatically concentrates at least 98% of suspended solids that are larger than 0.5 micron. Compared to the industry standard of 0.8 micron, the CSS-3 is by far more effective and economical.
