British Petroleum Expects New Oilrig in Gulf of Mexico to Produce 100,000 Barrels/D of Oil and 60 Mil Cu Mt/D of Gas

British Petroleum (BP) (UK) expects its new oilrig in the Gulf of Mexico to produce 100,000 barrels/d of oil and 60 mil cu mt/d of natural gas. The company commissioned it under the name Mad Dog in mid Jan 2005. BP is the largest oil and gas producer in the USA. Before hurricane Katrina it was mining 300,000 barrels/d of oil in the Gulf of Mexico. By 2006 it expects to increase its production there to 500,000 barrels/d.
