North East Waste Services Receives Permit Enhancement at South Hadley, Massachusetts Landfill

North East Waste Services, Inc. announced today that it has received the required regulatory approvals to increase the amount of waste it can accept on a daily basis at its South Hadley, Massachusetts landfill. The South Hadley landfill is operated by North East Waste Services in a public/private partnership with the Town of South Hadley, Massachusetts, which owns the landfill.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has issued a permit modification allowing the Company to increase the average daily volume of waste it can accept at its South Hadley, MA landfill from 395 tons per day to 500 tons per day and increasing the maximum daily volume from 500 tons per day to 540 tons per day.
"This permit enhancement is a reflection of the strong working relationship between company and the Town of South Hadley. Obtaining this increase is a part of our continuing strategy of enhancing our network of waste transfer and disposal facilities, while adhering to high standards of integrity, customer focus and community support," Jim Elitzak, President and Chief Executive Officer and Dave Florance, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer said in a joint statement.
North East Waste Services is a privately held solid waste collection, transportation and disposal company with 200 full time employees and annual revenues of over $100 million. The Company manages over 10,000 tons of waste per day through its operations, which include five landfills (three in Pennsylvania, one in Vermont and one in Massachusetts), five transfer stations (one in Washington D.C., one in Massachusetts and three in Vermont) and collection and long-haul operations located in Vermont, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
