Orbit International's Power Units Segment Receives New Orders in Excess of $1,000,000; Bookings From Segment's Commercial Division Up 23% From Prior Year

Posted on: Tuesday, 11 October 2005, 09:01 CDT

Orbit International Corp. (NASDAQ:ORBT) today announced that its Power Units Segment, Behlman Electronics, Inc. ("Behlman"), has received new orders aggregating over $1,000,000 for both initial and follow-on production program requirements. Deliveries under these contracts are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2005 and continue through the second quarter of 2006.

The Company also announced that with the receipt of these new contracts, year-to-date bookings from the Segment's Commercial Division are up 23% from the same period last year.

Included in these new orders is a follow-on award for approximately $450,000 for power supplies used on the MK119 gun control system used on the U.S. Navy's AEGIS Destroyers. This order marks the beginning of a five-year requirement that could result in over $2,000,000 in additional orders over that time period.

Behlman also received an order for approximately $230,000 for uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) used on the U.S. Army's Phoenix System, a mobile satellite communication system for "on-the-move-troop" communications. This is an initial production order and sales for this UPS could increase if adopted for use by the U.S. Air Force, Marines and National Guard.

Finally, Behlman's Commercial Division has also received several orders, totaling over $350,000, for modified standard products for use in railroad signaling, aircraft power systems and for oil and gas exploration.

Mark Tublisky, President of Behlman, commented, "Behlman continues to see strong demand in our commercial division, driven by our ability to easily modify our standard products to specific customer requirements. Since 1995, Behlman has supplied over 1200 units to this customer in the oil and gas exploration industry and this latest order has an accelerated shipping requirement in response to increasing demand."

Dennis Sunshine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Orbit International Corp., added, "Behlman's business plan of leveraging its standard product design to pursue modified standard and COTS product applications continues to lead to reorders of units with large multi-year production requirements. Consequently, this capability of modifying standard products to specific customer requirements has helped fuel the dramatic sales growth in this division."

Orbit International Corp. is involved in the manufacture of customized electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications through its production facilities in Hauppauge, New York, and Quakertown, Pennsylvania. Its Behlman Electronics, Inc. subsidiary manufactures and sells high quality commercial power units, AC power sources, frequency converters, uninterruptible power supplies and associated analytical equipment.
