Dome-Tech Solar Installs Largest Ground-Mounted Solar Energy System in New Jersey

EDISON, N.J., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Dome-Tech Solar has designed and installed the state's largest ground-mounted solar energy installation at New Jersey American Water's water treatment plant in Somerset, NJ.
Tom Kuster, president of Dome-Tech Solar, Jeanne Fox, president of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, and Walter Lynch, president of New Jersey American Water, activated the solar energy system at an event yesterday.
NJBPU President Fox praised Dome-Tech Solar and New Jersey American Water for their vision and contribution to the environment that will benefit residents for many years to come.
The 502-kilowatt system covers two acres and uses more than 2,800 photovoltaic panels from SCHOTT Solar. Dome-Tech Solar expects the solar energy system will supplement 15% of the power needed to run the water plant and save New Jersey American Water more than $125,000 a year in reduced energy costs.
On a cloudless day the solar energy system will, in one hour, generate energy equivalent to that needed to run lights, air conditioners and other electric-powered appliances in 500 homes.
