The National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) and industrial consultant E9 are collaborating on a pilot project to help metal finishing companies meet the growing demands of environmental legislation. Six companies from the sector, identified by NAMTEC and E9 as needing assistance, will come together to form a cluster. Each company will undertake an individual project in which they can collaborate and share best practice, for example the implementation of ISO14001, the development of a COMAH safety management system or undertaking an IPPC (integrated pollution prevention and control) assessment.
The cluster will meet regularly to share experiences, and take part in site visits and discussion forums. Consultancy expertise will be provided to those companies who need it. Copyright Gardner Publications, Inc. Oct 2005
