Virginia Recycling Association Recognizes Ten Outstanding Recycling Programs

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Each year the Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) recognizes the best waste reduction and recycling programs in the state at an annual awards ceremony. Nominations are sought from the public and private sectors, business, industry, schools, government and non-profit agencies, civic or volunteer organizations and individuals. Awards were presented Sept. 27 in Charlottesville, Va., during the VRA's annual conference.
The 2005 award categories and recipients are as follows:
Outstanding Business Recycling Program: ERG, Arlington
Outstanding College or University Program: (Tie) James Madison University, Harrisonburg; University of Virginia, Charlottesville
Outstanding County or Municipal Program: Livingston's Blend Compost, Spotsylvania County
Outstanding Government Agency: Cumberland Plateau Regional Solid Waste Authority; Buchanan, Dickenson and Russell Counties
Green Builder of the Year: Linda Lloyd, Charlottesville
Outstanding Media Partner: Rex Springston and the Richmond Times- Dispatch
Recycler of the Year: Debra Devine-Southeastern Public Service Authority, Chesapeake
Spotlight Award: Recycling Rocks-Prince William County Youth Ambassadors
Outstanding Community Volunteer Program: Richmond Freecycle Network
