More than 60 million barrels of oil, or about 11.1 percent of annual oil production in the Gulf of Mexico, have been shut in Since Hurricane Katrina swept through the Gulf in late August.305 billion cubic feet of natural gas, or 8.4 percent of annual production, remain shut in.
As of Monday, about 33.6 percent of daily oil production in the Gulf, or about half a million barrels of production per day day has been brought back online. About 46 percent of daily natural gas production, or about 4.6 billion cubic feet has returned.At least 225 of the 819 manned platforms in the Gulf are still clear of personnel.
