Thirteen Killed in Coal Mine Blast in Northern China

Taiyuan, 6 November: Thirteen people were killed and three others were missing in a coal mine blast accident at about 5 a.m. Sunday [2100 gmt 5 November] in Qingxu County of north China's Shanxi Province.
Gong Anku, director of the provincial coal mine safety supervision bureau, told Xinhua that there were 25 miners in the mine when the accident occurred, and nine of them managed to escape.
He said the Taiping colliery, with annual production capability of 60,000 tons, has a complete set of official licenses and safety production certificates.
More investigations are underway.
