BASF (Germany), chemical concern, is trying to set up production complexes. It means mainly the integration of production, power engineering, waste management, logistics, infrastructure and the trade mark BASF. In Europe, it is represented mainly by BASF’s production complex in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The centre of this complex is so called hydrocrack, where crude oil is changed to several basic raw materials as propylene and ethylene. Dozens of basic chemical substances are produced from several basic raw materials and about 8,000 commercial products on their basis. The base of the complex is represented by more than 200 production units, which are connected by piping with a length of 2,000 km and more than 200 km of rail transport.
