Beijing, 18 November: China is willing to strengthen cooperation with other countries in environmental protection investment, technology and programmes for the all-round, balanced and sustainable development of the country, said a senior official here Friday [18 November].
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environmental and Development (CCICED) will play a key part in this regard, said Chinese Vice-Premier Zeng Peiyan at a meeting with Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Klaus Topfer and President of the Canadian International Development Agency Robert Greenhill, who are here for the fourth general meeting of the third CCICED.
Zeng said the CCICED, as a high-level international consultation organization, has provided a lot of precious advice and suggestions to China's environmental protection and development.
He hope the CCICED will conduct further research on some major topics and increase exchanges of experience in environmental protection, so as to help China improve its environmental policies.
Zeng appreciated the long-term support of the Canadian government, the UNEP and some other governmental organs and international organizations to the CCICED.
