Recycling Warning to City Council

Campaigners warned against incineration as the Lamby Way landfill site runs out of space.
Cardiff Friends of the Earth waste officer Phil Ward, said: ‘The majority of household waste could be recycled or composted. Through the adoption of sensible policies, the amount of municipal waste could even be cut to zero within 25 years.
‘
FoE wanted to see:
Cardiff’s recycling target increase from 40 to 60 per cent by 2010;
City-wide, weekly collections by 2006;
Provide free green bags and promote the importance of recycling.
