DEPUTY Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak will launch the
Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC) on November 28.
In a statement, MOGSC said the launch will be a defining moment for the
Malaysian oil and gas services sector.
This is because it will be the first time where a council representing
all disciplines of service companies in the industry will be formed.
"The launch will also serve to kick-start the series of initiatives
planned under the MOGSC Charter," the statement said.
Formed in December 2003, the MOGSC was mooted by Petroliam Nasional
Bhd's cost reducing alliance to showcase the capabilities and expertise
as well as spearhead the development of Petronas-registered oil and gas
service providers.
The MOGSC will serve to identify business platforms, seek new
opportunities and promote healthy partnerships in the domestic, regional
and global markets.
This in turn will give locally incorporated service companies the
opportunity to expand their businesses in various growth sectors of the
oil and gas industry, locally and abroad.
To date, the council has 62 members from various disciplines with the
services sector of the oil and gas industry.
