MAGADAN. Nov 22 (Interfax) – Russia will be mining up to 250 tonnes of gold per year by 2015, Natural Resources Minister Yury Trutnev said at a gold industry conference in Magadan.

Trutnev said gold production could rise 50%-60% in ten years. “Some 50 lode gold deposits and complex mineral deposits will go on stream by then, enabling us to raise mine production to 250 tonnes annually,” he said.

Russia is mining about 168 tonnes of gold annually at present and is the world’s fifth biggest gold producer, Trutnev said. The country has the world’s second biggest proven gold reserves, Trutnev said.
