Snack and Candy Manufacturer Buys Tom's Foods, Inc.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Lance, Inc. announced it was the successful bidder for the assets of Tom's Foods, Inc. in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court auction. Tom's Foods products include candied peanuts, sandwich crackers and other snack food items which are primarily sold through convenience stores and vending machines in the Southeast United States. Lance, Inc. manufactures snack foods and candies including cookies, crackers, chips and mints. The purchase, which totals over $37.9 million, is subject to approval of sale by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
