Al-Watan newspaper quoted Chairman of the Kuwait Parliament Committee on Money and Economics, Abd al-Wahab al-Haroun, who said in late September 2005 that the law on the matter of aid to local companies operating to drill for oil, prevents foreign oil companies from investing in developing oil fields in the country and strengthens the property rights of the country over its natural treasures
. The paper noted that the debate on this matter touches on the development of oil fields in northern Kuwait and this law prevents foreign companies from investing in projects to develop oil fields.Source: Info-Prod Research (Middle East)
