Russian Company Signs Contract to Build Gas Facility in Syria

Damascus, 5 December: The Russian company Stroytransgaz will build a gas processing complex in Syria.
A contract with the state Syrian Gas Company was signed in the Syrian Oil Ministry today for the construction of a factory and also buildings and pipelines from gas deposits to the central region of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The enterprise will be situated 70 km from the city of Palmira, in an area of the largest deposits of hydrocarbons in Syria. Its productivity will be 2.2bn cubic metres of refined gas per annum, 23,000 t of compressed propane-butane and 233,000 t of condensate.
The timeframe for the implementation of the project is 22 months.
The contract, worth more than 200m US dollars, was signed as a result of an international tender announced by the Syrian Gas Company in the spring of this year.
