Energy Prices Rise Ahead of Supply Report

Posted on: Wednesday, 7 December 2005, 09:00 CST

Expectations that a key U.S. petroleum supply report Wednesday would show an inventory drawdown sent energy prices up.

Natural gas for January delivery rose 34.10 cents, or 2.5 percent, on the New York Mercantile Exchange to $13.83 per million Btu.

January crude oil rose, too, hitting $60.36 per barrel after rising 42 cents in early trading.

Gasoline was up 1 cent at $1.594 a gallon, and heating-oil futures were up 0.70 cent at $1.779 a gallon.
