Deeside College has recently been awarded a National Beacon Award in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management Training.
This prestigious award is recognised by local and regional employers as confirmation of high standards of quality and delivery and outstanding achievement.
A broad range of Health, Safety and Environmental training programmes are offered by Deeside College, of which more than 85% are delivered within local employers' premises.
This work-based delivery approach with employers ensures complete flexibility, which takes fully into account the needs of each business.
The Health and Safety team then respond with an appropriate training programme, to maximise learning outcomes in order to fulfil the business' requirements. Where learners/employees come to college to undertake their studies, the same degree of responsiveness is applied by the team. In all instances, there are integrated support mechanisms for all learners/employees, consisting of one-to-one support, on-line links and drop-in facilities, to ensure that they achieve a high level of success in their training.
Robert Walford, business manager for Commercial Services, said, 'The Beacon Award recognises the high achievements of the Health, Safety and Environmental team at Deeside College. The award acknowledges the significant progress made on all programmes in relation to the consistently high quality of teaching/training and high levels of employee attainment at Distinction and Merit levels. Overall, Deeside College is helping to raise awareness across local industry of the importance of health, safety and environmental issues, which affect businesses of all sizes.'
