Lukoil Has Major Oil Strike at Anaran Exploration Block in Iran

MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - A major oil field discovery was made on the Anaran exploration block in west Iran. Four promising structures were identified at Anaran block: Azar, Changuleh-West, Dehloran and Musian. Projected recoverable oil reserves of the block could reach 1 billion barrels, the company said in a press release.
The mandatory work program includes drilling of five exploration wells. The Anaran field was discovered as a result of testing of the exploration well on the Azar structure, that showed commercial oil inflow in July 2005.
Exploration operations on the block are underway with the Changuleh-West well currently in drilling.
The interest of LUKOIL Overseas, LUKOIL subsidiary, in the contract is 25%, with Norsk Hydro's stake at 75%, the press release said.
