Dec. 15–City Fire Marshal Todd M. Iaeger on Wednesday continued to investigate a two-alarm fire that extensively damaged the Stadium Diner at 1975 Centre Ave.

Iaeger said he has not been able to determine the cause of the Tuesday night fire.

No one was injured in the fire, which started shortly after the restaurant closed at 6:30, First Deputy Fire Chief Michael J. Moyer said.

Iaeger said the damage amount likely will be more than the initial estimate of $50,000 to $100,000.

He said he does not know how long the investigation will take.

Iaeger also said it is not clear when the restaurant could reopen.

The building sustained extensive heat and smoke damage, and a lot of food in the restaurant must be removed, he said.

The fire started in a storage area in the basement where paper and supplies were kept, Moyer said.

The fire burned through the floor under the kitchen and one of the bathrooms, Moyer added.
