DAVIS, Calif., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- WHO: The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is actively assessing wildfire damage on Southern California's private lands.
WHAT: Although emergency funding has not yet been appropriated, NRCS is acting through our conservation technical assistance program to organize crucial planning efforts and preventative practices to begin rehabilitation of the wildfire damage to private lands.
Immediate exigency measures are already in process to help prevent flooding in Central Coastal areas that anticipate rains beginning over the next two days.
NRCS is distributing disaster assistance information and Emergency Watershed Protection program guidance to communities, landowners and agencies.
Interdisciplinary teams made up of NRCS resource conservationists, engineers, foresters, biologists, geologists and soil scientists are assessing damages, compiling data, and talking to people who need assistance.
