3 Arrested After High Speed Chase

Dec. 19–Three people were arrested after a high-speed car chase that traversed Bellingham on Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at around 1:30 p.m., said Bellingham Police acting Sgt. Mark Stokes.
Officers pursued the vehicle, which struck a car at Sunset Drive and Woburn Street, throughout the city, including on Meridian Street, Broadway and Eldridge Avenue.
The chase ended when the suspects drove the car through a back lawn, and became stuck between a tree and a garage on the 2600 block of Sylvan Street, causing some damage to the garage.
After a brief foot chase, officers apprehended three suspects and arrested them.
Joshua Simmons, 31, of Burlington; Mark Vincent Whitehead, 22, of Burlington; and Tonja Buckner, 25, of Bellingham were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property. Other charges may be forthcoming, said Stokes. No injuries were reported.
No further information was available Sunday night.
