EU Calls for Cuts of 20% in Exhaust From Vehicles BRIEFING: BRUSSELS
December 22, 2005
European Union regulators called for cuts of at least 20 percent in car exhaust, seeking to ease air pollution while making EU automakers the world leaders in clean-car production. The European Commission proposed stricter emissions standards, especially for diesel cars, starting as soon as 2008. It also proposed quotas for governments to buy low-emissions buses and trucks.
