Molecular Imaging Corporation Launches Mobile Educational Coach

Posted on: Monday, 23 June 2003, 06:00 CDT

SAN DIEGO & NEW ORLEANS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 23, 2003--Molecular Imaging Corporation ("Molecular Imaging" or the "Company") (OTC BB: MLRI) announced today the launch of an educational campaign to showcase the use and benefits of nuclear medicine technology using a special purpose 42-foot mobile coach. This mobile educational resource, with the support of the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM), will travel to universities and hospitals throughout the United States in a tour that is anticipated to conclude at the SNM's Annual Meeting in 2004. The official inaugural ceremony is scheduled to occur at SNM's 50th Annual Meeting, Monday, June 23, from 12:45 PM-1:15 PM, in booth 1740 of the exhibit hall in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Exhibit Hall, New Orleans, Louisiana.

The educational coach is an exciting new resource designed to inform audiences about the vital role of nuclear medicine in general, and positron emission tomography (PET) in particular, for detecting and evaluating some of the most serious medical conditions of the 21st century -- heart disease, cancer and functional brain disorders. On loan from Molecular Imaging Corporation, the coach will include displays explaining various diagnostic imaging procedures and equipment technologies.

"This is a valuable new resource that will help increase public awareness of the crucial role of molecular imaging technology in modern medicine," declared Dr. Henry N. Wagner, Jr., SNM historian. "The generosity of the Molecular Imaging Corporation, as well as equipment donations by Amici, Inc., Bracco Diagnostics, GE Medical Systems, Siemens Medical Systems, Inc, Philips Medical Systems and AK Specialty Vehicles have made the coach possible, and we look forward to working with our partners over the next year as it travels around the country."

"Because PET represents a new standard of care, this mobile exhibit presents an ideal forum to educate physicians and the public on its approved uses," said Paul J. Crowe, President and CEO of the Molecular Imaging Corporation. "As public and private insurers continue to approve and expand reimbursement for the use of PET in cancer, cardiovascular disease, women's health and newer applications like Alzheimer's, which is currently under review, our collective goal is to ensure that physicians, third party payors and the public are educated about the socio-economic benefits derived from this diagnostic imaging procedure."
