CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2003--Third, fourth and fifth grade students across North America will get an unusual science lesson during National Chemistry Week October 19-25, as part of Chemistry Connection(R), Rhodia's (NYSE:RHA) international hands-on education program.
Rhodia's Chemistry Connection ambassadors across the nation, will give students insight into chemistry as they conduct extraordinary science experiments using ordinary household products. Ambassadors in five states and Canada will reach out to more than 1,000 students in recognition of The American Chemical Society's annual event to explore the nature and importance of chemistry.
Rhodia is proud to encourage the future scientists and engineers of tomorrow by promoting science education and showing students that science is fun.
Chemistry Connection(R) demonstrates the countless ways chemistry touches our lives, in the foods we eat, the clothes we wear, and the medications we take.
The program was established in 1989 to promote science education in elementary schools particularly, third, fourth and fifth grades. Chemistry Connection ambassadors teach students about science through hands-on experiments.
"Reaching out to the communities in which we operate means good business - helping to build trust and understanding with our neighbors, while providing a valuable service to area schools," comments Myron Galuskin, president, Rhodia Inc.
To date, more than 125 Rhodia employees have been trained as Chemistry Connection(R) ambassadors for the program, which has reached more than 250,000 students in the United States, Canada and France.
