Hand Injury Doesn't Slow Jamieson: Has Team-Leading 14 Goals for Checkers

Jan. 11--Dusty Jamieson, at less than full health, remains a dangerous scorer.
The Charlotte Checkers winger has a team-leading 14 goals, despite missing seven games with a hand injury. He has seven goals in the past eight games, including a hat trick in a 5-2 victory against Columbia last week.
"Playing with Mike Bayrack and Brandon Cullen, they seem to be finding me right now," Jamieson said. "It's a nice feeling."
Jamieson, 24, has led Charlotte in goals each of his three professional seasons, netting 31, 24 and 27. He had seven winning goals as a rookie in 2002-03.
"Last year he was a big reason we got to the (ECHL) conference final," coach Derek Wilkinson said. "This year again, he's a big reason we're winning more than we're losing. Dusty is a special player at this level. He's got a bad hand, but is still finding a way to put the puck in the net."
Jamieson's 96 goals are fourth in Checkers history, behind Darryl Noren (174), Matt Robbins (113) and David Brosseau (110).
Notes
-- Defenseman Ryan Glenn returned after a scoreless three-game stint with Syracuse of the American Hockey League. He also had three games with Milwaukee (AHL) in October.
-- The Checkers will give away bobbleheads of enforcer Steve MacIntyre, a fan favorite, on March 30 to the first 2,000 fans.
-- Game-worn Checkers jerseys are being auctioned at www.gocheckers.com .
-- Jeff Glass is 2-1-0 with a .935 save percentage in his past three starts.
-- The Checkers have the ECHL's best home power play, and have converted 20 of 72 advantages (27.8 percent).
-- All-Star defenseman Rory Rawlyk's nine goals matches his total of each of his first two seasons.
-- Today's home game against Pensacola is Charlotte's halfway mark. It's in good shape (18-14-3), third in the Southern Division, considering 22 of 35 games were on the road, and a rash of injuries shuffled the lineup.
"I'm thrilled, considering all we've gone through," Wilkinson said. "What we have to guard against is thinking we'll get a guy or two back, and win automatically. We still have to work our tails off. But we've shown we can work hard, and if we keep doing that consistently, the sky's the limit."
