CEZ Controls the Whole Electricity Production Chain in the Czech Republic

CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic), power company, took a control of the whole electricity production chain from the coal mining over the production to the distribution in the last years. The state owns 67% of shares in CEZ and its development is supported by Czech politicians
. Besides other, CEZ bought the state share in brown- coal mining company Severoceske doly (Czech Republic) for favourable CEK 9 bil in 2005. The Czech Republic became the sixth biggest electricity exporter in the world in 2003 thanks to CEZ. The high profits to the extent of dozens of CEK bil/y make it possible for CEZ to expand abroad. CEZ which wants to become the number one on the electricity market in the Central and Southeastern Europe is already in the top ten of the European power companies now.Source: Access Czech Republic Business Bulletin
