FOR some, going green means more than just making their cars cleaner. It also means helping the community to conserve the environment, heritage and natural resources.
Since 2000, Ford has been actively awarding Malaysian projects that share their green vision.
This year, 17 recipients received a total of RM190,000 as part of Ford's Conservation and Environmental Grants programme 2003.
"At Ford we believe that we must strive to make this world a better place and leave behind a legacy that generations to come will be proud of.
"We also believe in the importance of community. There is no better way to preserve the environment and support conservation than by having the involvement of the community," said Ford Malaysia managing director Deborah Aronson.
The 17 recipients were picked from 72 applicants and divided into four categories: 1) Conservation Engineering, projects that work to reduce the rate of consumption of natural resources and pollution;
2) Natural Environment, projects to conserve flora, fauna and their respective habitats; 3) Heritage, projects to conserve man- made aspects of national heritage and 4) Child and Youth, any conservation project involving young people below 18.
