Small-Hole Drilling

Posted on: Friday, 20 January 2006, 06:00 CST

By Bramlet, Christina

With the Model H micro drilling machine from Minitool, Inc., users can drill holes with diameters ranging from 0.025 mm to 0.050 mm in materials such as steel, stainless steel, ceramics, plastics and other metals.

According to the company, the customized drill guidance and precision in feed features create round holes and favorable surface finish. Combined with the small-hole drilling capabilities, the manual control features also make the machine suitable for use in research laboratories.

Inline, interchangeable vee bearings replace the conventional ball or sleeve bearings. The drills are mounted within an interchangeable drive pulley and held against the vee bearings by means of a drive belt.
