Jan. 21--SAN LUIS OBISPO

Hit-and-run injures San Dimas woman

A 54-year-old San Dimas woman was injured after a driver backed into the car she was in and fled the scene, San Luis Obispo police said Friday.

Police say Yuan Wang, 23, was driving her 1996 Acura through the parking lot of Mustang Village about 1:15 p.m. when a 1995 Jeep Wrangler struck the car, injuring Wei Wang, who was in the front passenger seat of the Acura.

The driver repeatedly refused to produce his driver's license for identification, then drove off, police said. Yuan Wang wrote down the license plate number and gave it to police, who arrested John McGuire, 22, of San Luis Obispo about an hour later in the 800 block of Mission Street on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. McGuire was booked at County Jail.

Wei Wang was treated at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for injuries to her head, neck and shoulders.

ATASCADERO

Trio of men reportedly try to kidnap teen

Three men tried to abduct a teen as she walked down an Atascadero street Thursday, police said. The men, each between 20 and 30 years old, drove alongside the 18-year-old as she walked in the 4900 block of Del Rio Road just after 11 a.m. Officers said one of the men offered the woman a ride.

When she refused, the driver and another man exited the older white Honda Accord with gold "Accord" markings on the back and grabbed her by the arms. She struggled, according to police, and was able to pull away from the men. The men then sped off west on Del Rio.

Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to call the Atascadero Police Department at 461-5051.
