Iran to Build Gas Power Plant in Western Province

Tehran, 22 January: A 1,000-megawatt gas power plant is to be built in [western province of] Khorramabad, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) said here on Sunday [22 January].

Construction works for building the power plant is planned to start late this year (Iranian year ends 20 March) and will be completed within a four-year period, noted the director of Lorestan Province Regional Electricity Generation and Distribution Company. He added that, the building of the power plant will be carried out through investments made by the private sector.

Given that the building of the power plant is the first of its kind in the region, the huge project is expected to attract significant amounts of investments by the private sector.

With the development of industries at the national and provincial levels the growing needs for a stable energy source has justified the building of the power generation plant in this western Iranian province. The power station is expected to address the energy needs of the region.
