Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant's Unit Shuts Down Automatically

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - The first power generating unit of the Smolensk nuclear power plant shut down automatically at 11:07 a.m., Moscow time, on Wednesday after the facility's cooling system began malfunctioning, the press service of the Rosenergoatom concern said.
Radiation levels at the nuclear power plant and the surrounding area are normal.
