Letters: Japan Seeks to Catch Only Species That Are Abundant

Japan is not "threatening to push back the global protections against whaling that have helped to stabilise populations" (Leading article, 22 January). We believe endangered species, such as the blue whale, should be preserved. In its research, Japan seeks to catch only species that are abundant or have recovered on a scale unlikely to affect stocks. Jun Koda
