Homes at Risk From Pollution

Industrial pollution is the biggest risk to homes in the North East, according to a study.

The Landmark Information Group claims of 268,075 residential properties in the NE postal area, 57%, are identified as being at risk of pollutants from industry like hazardous substances.

In the DH postal area 82,136 homes, which represents 71%, could also be affected.

Landmark says its survey’s findings show how important it is for homebuyers to get a full environmental survey. James Sherwood- Rogers said: “Environmental risks are more commonplace and have much more of a wider impact than people think.

“Environmental liabilities pose a real threat to new and existing homeowners and their families, as well as potentially having an impact on a property’s value.”
