February 3, 2006

ASTANA. Feb 2 (Interfax) – Kazakhstan may build a nuclear power plant in the next seven to ten years if a feasibility study for the project begins in 2006, the head of the Atomic Energy Committee of the Kazakh Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said in an interview published on Thursday.

“Our task is to develop the terms and requirements for a tender. So far the Balkhash Nuclear Power Plant exists only as an idea,” Timur Zhantikin told the Kazakh newspaper Liter.
