Mitsubishi Chemical HD Logs 113-B.-Yen 9-Month Operating Profit

Tokyo, Feb. 3 (Jiji Press)--Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp. said Friday that its group operating profit in April-December totaled 113,069 million yen.
The figure was down 2.1 pct from the group operating profit reported by the former Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. group for the same period of 2004, said Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings.
The holding firm was created in October 2005 as the parent of Mitsubishi Chemical and Mitsubishi Pharma Corp.
The group operating balance was hit by falls in petrochemical product prices and a production suspension at an ethylene plant in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, western Japan, due to regular maintenance work.
Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings' group net profit in April-December 2005 came to 72,530 million yen, up 49.1 pct from the former Mitsubishi Chemical group's year-before profit of 48,654 million yen, which was squeezed by special losses worth 20 billion yen, including a loss on impaired fixed assets.
Consolidated sales totaled 1,753,373 million yen, up 9.2 pct. [EARNINGS]END
