Systems Engineering Announces Sale of 1,400 Alternative Fuel Conversion Systems in Panama
Posted on: Tuesday, 7 February 2006, 09:00 CST
Equipment and Systems Engineering, Inc. (OTC: EQSE), an exclusive reseller of IMPCO and OMVL alternative fuels conversion systems, announced this morning that its Alternative Fuels Unit has sold 1,400 cylindrical LPG, or propane, conversion systems to its client Master Parts & Services, a subsidiary of TROPIGAS de Panama, S.A. specializing in the import of LPG products, conversion of vehicles, and provision of domestic and industrial LPG in Panama.
The sale generated more than $70,000 in revenue for EQSE, and the systems sold ultimately will convert 1,400 Panamanian vehicles to operate on LPG rather than gasoline.
The Panamanian government is moving forward with serious discussions and new regulatory standards to further and govern the use of LPG as motor vehicle fuel. Several months ago, Panamanian government officials hosted a half-day conference to discuss the feasibility of converting Panamanian vehicles to operate on LPG, rather than gasoline.
EQSE CEO Jose T. Masis was invited to attend the conference on account of his years of industry experience in alternative fuel systems and participated actively in the discussion. The conference also was attended by representatives of the national fire department as well as the University of Panama, which has been charged with testing oversight for LPG conversion systems prior to approval by the Panamanian government. This event and subsequent meetings of Panamanian leadership have resulted in proposed legislation for the use of LPG as motor vehicle fuel and new government support for such conversions by the country's private sector.
"More and more governments are increasingly cognizant of rising gasoline prices and the depletion of oil reserves throughout the world," said Masis. "This new initiative by the Panamanian government has opened a tremendous new revenue opportunity for our company and we look forward to intensifying our sales in this country for years to come."
EQSE's Alternative Fuels Unit is the exclusive reseller of IMPCO and OMVL alternative fuels conversion systems in numerous countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean; these systems convert gasoline driven engines to operate on gases such as natural gas (CNG) and propane (LPG).
