Eco-RX Air Purifier Reduces Asthma Symptoms By Improving Indoor Air Quality

Posted on: Tuesday, 14 February 2006, 18:00 CST

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Throughout the U.S. and the world, there is growing awareness of declining air quality. The public has long been aware of the dangers associated with outdoor air pollution, but there has never been such strong public concern regarding the quality of indoor air. Today's lifestyles and building construction practices have combined to create significant challenges to healthy indoor air. Poor Indoor Air Quality has been scientifically proven to be a cause of increased asthma and allergy related symptoms, and facilitates the spread of disease.

Eco-RX (OTC Pink Sheets: ERXX) has created an air purifier that can reduce by up to 99% the allergens that can contribute to asthma symptoms in children and adults. The Eco-RX RX400 air purifier utilizes an Ultra Violet chamber that kills and/or neutralizes airborne bacteria, pollen, mold spores, viruses, dust mites and other organic sources of respiratory problems, including asthma. By eliminating significant amounts of this indoor air pollution, consumers can help reduce or alleviate many sources of respiratory irritation that would otherwise be ingested into the lungs. By reducing these airborne contaminants there can be an improvement in quality of life and a reduction in associated medical costs.

Asthma is a serious, sometimes life-threatening, disease. "Since 1980, asthma prevalence has been on a steep rise in the U.S. Though many cases of asthma probably go undiagnosed, health officials estimate that at least 20 million people in the US have asthma," according to the EPA. In the U.S., it leads to 2 million emergency room visits and 5,000 deaths annually. Asthma costs, a combination of health care costs and lost productivity, were estimated to be $14 Billion in 2002. It is the most common chronic childhood disease affecting 6.3 million children. Nearly 1 in 13 school-aged children has asthma, and the rate is rising more rapidly in preschool-aged children than in any other group. Last year, approximately 4.2 million children had an asthma attack. It accounts for almost 5 million physician's visits and more than 200,000 hospitalizations per year (latest EPA statistics). In 2000, children lost more than 14 million school days to asthma attacks and symptoms. It interrupts sleep; limits activities and can disrupt family routines. While asthma symptoms may not be severe enough to require visits to doctors or the emergency room, they can prevent a child from living a full, normal life. Some of the common triggers for asthma found indoors include molds, pets and pet dander, allergens, dust mites and other pests.
