Curriculum Advantage Offers Free K-12 Instructional Technology As Part of Larger Hurricane Relief Efforts
Posted on: Wednesday, 15 February 2006, 15:00 CST
Curriculum Advantage, Inc. announced today that it will join vSKOOL to offer relief to K-12 students displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and those schools and communities devastated by the disasters. Recognizing that instructional technology can provide valuable resources to areas devastated by the hurricanes, and to educators striving to meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of displaced students, Curriculum Advantage's award winning INET Classroom is being donated to all students and educators affected, through vSKOOL's initiative to offer relief.
"Curriculum Advantage is pleased to assist in the efforts to serve these students," said Cathy Sump of Curriculum Advantage. "By offering instructional materials and resources that can be provided immediately, schools don't have to wait for relief funds or let other priorities prevent access to the educational tools they need."
INET Classroom is a comprehensive online research and resource solution providing effective use of technology in the classroom that is academically appropriate, relevant, and easy to use. It contains more than 170,000 Internet resources -- continually reviewed and categorized for use in Standards-based instruction, including educational and content-based websites, images, webquests, full-text books, and online periodicals.
"We believe that technology and online learning resources have a critical role to play in restarting educational programs and helping restore a sense of normalcy in schools affected by this past year's hurricanes. We're proud to see educational technology play such a critical role in the recovery process," said Douglas Levin, Director of Education Policy, Cable in the Classroom, and Co-Founder of the vSKOOL consortium, a broad-based consortium providing education-related aid to K-12 hurricane victims.
INET makes the integration of technology into the classroom seamless while saving time and providing instant access to appropriate and meaningful information and is currently used by more than 2,000,000 students and teachers nationwide.
