Feb. 16–NORMAL — A Normal couple faces drug charges after police seized more than $26,000 of cocaine during a raid of their home Wednesday, authorities said.

Yusef Herrod, 28, and Willonda Herrod, 30, were arrested after authorities found about 263 grams, or about half a pound, of cocaine at 610 N. School St. in Normal, Bloomington Police said.

The husband and wife were jailed without bond Wednesday and will be brought before a judge today for a custody hearing.

Yusef Herrod is charged with delivery of cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. Willonda Herrod is charged with possession of cocaine.

Bloomington’s vice unit has been investigating the Herrods for “a matter of weeks,” Bloomington police spokesman Duane Moss said.

Moss said the drug probe originated in Bloomington and culminated with Wednesday’s 5 a.m. raid on the Herrods’ Normal home.

Besides the cocaine, police found several suspected Ecstasy pills and about $2,000 cash during their search, Moss said.

Yusef Herrod has previously spent time in prison on drug charges. He served four years after a 2000 conviction on cocaine delivery charges.

The Normal Police Department’s vice unit and Illinois State Police Task Force 6 assisted Bloomington in Wednesday’s search of the Normal home.
