James Cabot Joins Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications; Former New England EPA Strategic Planning Director to Head Energy and Environment Practice

Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications today announced that Jim Cabot has joined the firm as Senior Vice President and will manage the firm's energy and environment practice. In this role, Cabot will oversee the development and implementation of integrated communications programs and lead the practice's business development initiatives.

Prior to joining Rasky Baerlein, Cabot spent twelve years with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), New England. Most recently, he served as Director of Strategic Planning, managing a major initiative to redesign and launch new strategic planning, conducting program evaluations, and managing accountability systems.
Other positions Cabot held while working at EPA New England include Senior Management Advisor to the regional administrator and Director and Founder of the EPA's first environmental technology development and commercialization center, the Center for Environmental Industry and Technology. As Center Director, Cabot worked closely with environmental technology start-up companies to reduce regulatory barriers to commercialization, ran venture capital and trade forums and secured funding and R&D opportunities for technology companies with the federal government.
Other positions Cabot has held include, founding team member and Managing Editor of environmental publication company, Green Book, Inc., and Editor and Conference Manager for Environmental Careers Organization, Inc.
Throughout his career, Cabot has been the recipient of several accolades including the EPA's highest regional honor, the Bronze Medal service award, as well as its second highest national award, the Silver Medal for service award.
Cabot received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Harvard University in 1987 and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1993.
Rasky Baerlein's energy and environment practice maintains deep-rooted industry knowledge and has solid experience in crafting local and national communications strategies aimed at influencing and educating public officials, business leaders, the media, and the community-at- large. The practice has worked with a broad range of clients from energy distributors to clean energy technology companies including TIAX, LLC, Southern Energy, KeySpan Energy Delivery, and Constellation NewEnergy.
