North Korea Adopts Law on Estimating Environmental Influence

Pyongyang, 21 February: The Law on Estimating Environmental Influence has been recently adopted in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The law consists of 5 chapters and 33 articles.
Chapter 1 Fundamentals of Law on Estimating Environmental Influence stipulates the mission of the law, various principles including those of application for and deliberation of the documents needed for the environmental influence estimation and objects of the law application.
It also stipulates the investment principle. According to it, the state shall develop exchange and cooperation with other countries and international organizations in the field of environmental influence estimation.
Chapters two and three deal with principles, procedures and methods for the preparation of documents needed for environmental influence estimation and their application and deliberation.
Clarified in chapters four and five are principled issues arising in the execution of decisions on the environmental influence estimation and in the supervision and control of the estimation work.
The adoption of the law consolidates by law the already-made successes in the work for protecting the environment of the country. And it legally guarantees that all the people can turn out in the campaign for protecting the environment of the territory and build up the country into the best socialist one.
