News Advisory:
-- Provide Update on Kansas City Science Initiative
WHAT: Bayer will award a significant grant to the Kansas City Science Initiative (KCSI), a systemic science education reform initiative spearheaded by Bayer and the Kansas City Missouri School District (KCMSD).
Launched by astronaut Dr. Mae C. Jemison and the partners in October 2004, KCSI is a National Science Education Standards-based learning and teaching program. It provides ongoing teacher professional development and new experiential science curriculum materials, allowing students to learn science the way scientists do, by doing it, rather than just reading about it.
WHO: Bayer CropScience's Arlin Bostian and Bayer Animal Health's Joerg Ohle will present the grant to KCMSD Board President David Smith at KCSI's spring 2006 Teacher Professional Development Workshop.
Dozens of KCMSD kindergarten- through fifth-grade teachers will take part in the training and learn how this news announcement will affect them and their students directly.
