Enagas Selects Energy Solutions for Complete Online/Offline Pipeline Management System

Energy Solutions International, the Houston-based leading global supplier of oil and gas pipeline management software, today announced that Enagas, the natural gas transporter for all of Spain, has selected PipelineManager(R) and PipelineStudio(R) after a rigorous evaluation process that started more than two years ago. Enagas will use this complete online and offline system to manage its 6,522-kilometer pipeline network.

PipelineStudio is a leading simulation and design product for pipeline systems that is used extensively by pipeline and engineering companies. PipelineManager, a state-of-the-art online system, helps companies operate their networks at maximum throughput while detecting potential leaks and maintaining environmental safety. Together, these two products provide companies like Enagas the ability to maximize throughput and efficiency. Covering the entire country of Spain, the Enagas network has over 6,000 kilometers (or 4,000 miles) of pipe with nine compressor stations and 280 regulators. The pipeline system consists of six main trunk lines that connect Spain's liquefied natural gas and pipeline import terminals with the country's interior. Enagas also maintains a gas storage capacity of 49.9 Bcf. The company had been using older technology and knew an upgrade was necessary in order to improve system performance and execute at the same pace as demand growth. Kicked off in summer 2005, the Enagas project currently is in the functional test phase, with an expected on-time completion in summer 2006.
